Picric Acid

Picric Acid is used as a fixing agent and for staining of fungi.

Picric acid is a derivative of phenol. It is a toxic, yellow crystalline solid that melts at 122°C and is soluble in most organic solvents. Besides being used in explosives and as an antiseptic, Picric acid is also used in general microbiology for staining fungi.
